TRENTON, NJ – Governor Phil Murphy said on Fox News that he did not consider the Constitution of the United States when enacting a series of executive orders, now known as “Murphy’s Law” to prevent citizens from leaving their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. On Friday, it appears that the New Jersey State Police also were not thinking of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution as an officer ticketed vehicles parked in downtown Trenton in protest.
“Today, a non-partisan protest was held in Trenton regarding the lockdown in our state,” said the Central Jersey Libertarians. “It was a peaceful protest and the streets were not gridlocked as seen during other protests in other states. However, officers still wrote summonses to those in their cars. There was at least one arrest. This infringement on the First Amendment will not stand. We offer our support to those fighting this.”
Kim Pagan of Toms River was charged by the New Jersey State Police with violating the emergency orders by organizing a prohibited event today in Trenton in which protesters gathered outside the State House and at other locations in Trenton to demonstrate against the Governor’s Executive Orders.
A woman shouted at the officer as he walked down a line of cars with a ticket book.
Prior to the rally, organizers reminded protesters to be polite, wear face coverings and be courteous, but when police started issuing tickets, Pagan began protesting the action. She was officially charged with violating “Murphy’s Law”.
