BEDFORD, IN – A Lawrence County man is facing multiple domestic battery charges after authorities say a dispute over a video game console escalated into a violent attack on a pregnant woman holding her infant child.
Danny Wall, 37, was arrested April 22 following a welfare check at a residence in Bedford, where officers spoke with the alleged victim about the incident. According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by WBIW, the altercation began after Wall had been drinking and became upset during an argument involving his use of a video game console.
The victim told officers the situation escalated after she unplugged the console, prompting Wall to become aggressive. Investigators say Wall admitted to damaging property and assaulting the woman during the confrontation.
Charges and alleged assault details
Wall is charged with domestic battery on a pregnant female and domestic battery in the presence of a minor. According to the affidavit, he told officers he “should not have hit her” and acknowledged prior physical incidents. Authorities reported that Wall admitted to punching and breaking a television before physically attacking the victim.
During the altercation, Wall allegedly slapped the woman, pulled her hair, and struck her in the back of the head with an open hand. The victim told police she was approximately six weeks pregnant and holding the couple’s 5-month-old daughter at the time of the incident.
Emergency medical services evaluated the woman at the scene. She declined further medical treatment and signed a refusal form, according to WBIW.
Child services involvement and court proceedings
Because the infant was present during the incident, the Indiana Department of Child Services was notified, and a formal report was initiated. The victim also completed a Domestic Violence Lethality Screening and signed a domestic battery affidavit.
Wall was taken into custody and booked into the Lawrence County Jail. Jail records indicate he later posted bond and was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
He is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing Tuesday, with a subsequent court date set for May 12.
