Investigation Underway After Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Freehold

FREEHOLD, NJ—Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances that led to a pedestrian being fatally struck by a motor vehicle in Freehold Borough.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at approximately 11:23 a.m. on State Highway 33 Business near Ann Street.

The collision involved a 2022 Ram ProMaster cargo van, driven by a 65-year-old male, heading westbound when he collided with 76-year-old Frank Tommasini of Manalapan, who was crossing the street from a nearby parking lot. Tommasini was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities, including members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Freehold Borough Police Department, are diligently working to determine the details of the crash.

The driver of the van remained at the scene following the incident.
