BARNEGAT TWP., N.J. – Authorities are investigating a residential fire that broke out Monday night in Barnegat Township, drawing multiple emergency units to the scene.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, police and firefighters responded around 8:30 p.m. on January 13 to a home on East Thorn Avenue following reports of a structure fire. When first responders arrived, flames were visible from the front door and a window of the residence. Crews quickly brought the fire under control, and no injuries were reported.
The cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit–Arson Squad, the Barnegat Township Police Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
Officials have not released details about the extent of the damage or whether the home was occupied at the time of the fire.
