JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Kingda Ka, the record-breaking roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure, is at the center of speculation following unconfirmed reports that the popular ride may be closing. Fans of the iconic attraction, which holds the title as the world’s tallest coaster, have taken to social media to discuss the future of the ride after recent closures for maintenance sparked rumors of a permanent shutdown.

While it is unlikely that the company will completely dismantle the ride and tower, which shares itself with Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, Kindga Ka as we know it today, could be done.
Kingda Ka, which opened in 2005, is the tallest roller coaster in the world at 456 feet and features a launch speed of 128 miles per hour, making it the second-fastest coaster globally.
