Jackson Little League All-Stars Defeat Toms River to Win District Title

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The JLL 50/70 All Star Team clinched an 8-5 victory against Toms River East this Tuesday. The game started strong for JLL, setting the pace in the first inning with key plays from Chayse Santucci and Will Bernstein.

Santucci hit a single that brought in a run, followed by Bernstein who blasted a two-run homer to right field, giving JLL an early lead. The momentum continued into the sixth inning when Nathan Fellmann hit a three-run homer to center field, cementing the team’s lead.

Pitching for JLL, Peter Grosso allowed five runs and struck out eight over five and one-third innings. Jake Urlton took over in relief, pitching one and two-thirds scoreless innings, striking out two and allowing just two hits.

The JLL team showcased strong batting throughout the game, accumulating 11 hits. Fellmann was particularly effective, batting 2-for-2 and driving in three runs. Both Kyle Cebulski and Will Bernstein also added two hits each, contributing to the team’s solid offensive performance.

In contrast, Toms River East also showed resilience. Cristian Leon led their lineup, going 2-for-2 and bringing in two RBIs. The team managed to steal six bases during the game, with significant contributions from Leon and Anthony Paladino, who each had multiple steals.

Despite the aggressive base running, Toms River East could not close the gap, ending the game with a total of five runs. Both teams played error-free baseball, with Antonio Fiorilli of JLL and Cristian Leon of Toms River East leading in defensive chances, ensuring a tightly contested matchup.
