Jackson Police Assist in Sefer Torah Parade

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – It was a joyous occasion as the Jackson Township Police were present and assisted in a Sefer Torah Parade, the welcoming of a new, often handwritten copy of the Torah scroll used during religious prayer services for Orthodox Jewish residents.

The cost of these scrolls can range between $20,000 and $100,000.

“On Sunday, May 22nd, members of the Jackson Twp. Police Department had the honor to observe and assist with the Sefer Torah Parade and witness the acquisition of a new Torah,” the Jackson Police Department said in a statement. “It was truly an experience and honor to be present during this historical and spiritual event. The community was so pleased with the officer’s attendance to make sure this important day was conducted in a safe manner for all.
