Jeremy Stanton Charged with Murder of Ryan P. Babcock

Pittsfield, MA — Jeremy Stanton, a resident of Pittsfield, has been charged with the murder of Ryan P. Babcock. The alleged crime took place on June 11, and Stanton was apprehended the following evening in Worthington, MA.

Stanton, born on November 23, 1985, was arrested on June 12 on unrelated outstanding warrants for violation of probation, assault with a dangerous weapon, and vandalizing property from a previous incident on June 2. He is currently being held without bail after entering a plea of not guilty.

District Attorney Shugrue praised law enforcement for their swift action, stating, “I commend law enforcement for identifying and apprehending a suspect in just over 24 hours. They worked diligently around the clock to keep the public safe. Bringing guns and violence into our neighborhoods is unacceptable and those who do will be brought to justice by my office.”

The Pittsfield Police Department, Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section were all involved in Stanton’s apprehension.
