A fire erupted in Jersey City on Sunday, displacing 18 individuals.
According to the American Red Cross, the blaze occurred on West Side Avenue, affecting multiple homes at about 11:30 a.m., which led to the displacement of five families.
Police reported that the fire’s preliminary cause was a lit cigarette discarded down an air shaft.
