Juvenile Arrested for Possession of a Firearm in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, MA—A 14-year-old male has been arrested by officers from the Boston Police Department’s District B-3 (Mattapan) on charges related to firearm possession. The arrest occurred on Saturday at approximately 6:55 PM at Harambee Park, located between New England Avenue and Blue Hill Avenue.

Boston Police were monitoring an event at the park when they noticed the juvenile male conspicuously holding a fanny pack under his left arm. As officers approached, the young male attempted to blend into the crowd, momentarily eluding the officers. They later spotted him sitting on a ledge among a group of people, still clutching the fanny pack tightly.

Upon a second approach, officers asked the suspect to stand for a pat frisk. During the investigation, they recovered a Smith and Wesson firearm from the fanny pack. The gun was loaded with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine, and its serial number had been obliterated.

The juvenile was taken into custody without further incident.
