Juvenile detained after making threat, linked to stolen firearm from Stafford County Sheriff’s Office

September 12, 2024

STAFFORD, Va. — A 15-year-old juvenile has been detained in connection with a threat made against a student at Brooke Point High School and the theft of a firearm from a Stafford County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, authorities said.

Deputies were alerted to the threat on the evening of September 10, 2024. An overnight investigation by deputies and detectives helped identify the suspect and gather evidence. During the investigation, deputies noticed a firearm in the suspect’s social media posts that matched a gun stolen from a Sheriff’s Office vehicle last week.

The firearm had been secured in a locked vehicle in a gun rack, but the suspect allegedly broke a window and bypassed the rack to steal the weapon.

In response to the threat, deputies coordinated with school staff and increased their presence at Brooke Point High School. The suspect was detained just before the start of school. A search of the juvenile’s home later recovered the stolen firearm.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
