Washington, DC – A 31-year-old Maryland man was shot and killed by police Tuesday afternoon after charging at officers with two knives during a domestic disturbance response in Northwest Washington, officials said.

Just before 11 a.m., Second District officers were called to the 5100 block of Sherier Place NW following a report of a domestic disturbance. According to police, victims at the scene told officers the suspect was en route and had made threats to damage property.

While officers were still on scene speaking with the victims and completing a report, the suspect arrived around noon and immediately charged toward officers while holding two knives.

Police say multiple commands were issued for the suspect to drop the weapons. One officer deployed a stun gun twice, but the suspect continued advancing. At that point, both responding officers each discharged their firearms once, striking the suspect.
