Lakewood swears in new firefighters at commissioners meeting

LAKEWOOD, N.J. — The Lakewood Fire Department officially swore in two new career firefighters and appointed a new volunteer during a recent meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners.

Volunteer firefighter Aldo Montes was formally appointed during the session, while career firefighters Joseph T. Bisogno and Marvin J. Pisco took their official oaths after completing fire academy training.

Bisogno and Pisco were initially appointed in January. Their formal swearing-in this week marks the conclusion of their training and the beginning of their active duty with the department.

“The Lakewood Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners and Fire Chief Jonathan Yahr announced the appointment of volunteer firefighter Aldo Montes, and the official swearing-in of Career Firefighters Joseph T. Bisogno and Marvin J. Pisco,” the department stated.

The event was part of a routine meeting of the Fire Commissioners, where department updates and appointments are regularly reviewed.

Department continues recruitment efforts

The Lakewood Fire Department continues to seek community members interested in volunteering. Officials encourage interested individuals to visit the department’s website and submit their information through the “Join / Apply Today” portal.

Fire District Administrator Yehuda Beer is available for additional inquiries at 732-364-5151.

The department remains active in bolstering its ranks through a combination of career and volunteer firefighters to serve the growing township.

Bisogno and Pisco join a roster of professionally trained firefighters, having completed their required certifications at the fire academy earlier this year.

New personnel are expected to begin active duty assignments across Lakewood’s fire stations this month.

The Lakewood Fire Department adds two career firefighters and one volunteer to its ranks following formal swearing-in ceremonies.
