Pequea Township store sells $1 million winning Powerball ticket ahead of $1.3B jackpot
MIDDLETOWN, PA – A Turkey Hill in Pequea Township is celebrating a major win after selling a $1 million Powerball ticket in Saturday night’s drawing, as excitement builds toward Wednesday’s $1.3 billion jackpot.
The winning ticket, sold at the Turkey Hill at 2101 New Danville Pike, matched all five white balls drawn — 3, 18, 22, 27, and 33 — but not the red Powerball 17. The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
While the jackpot rolled over, the Pequea Township prize was one of two $1 million wins in Pennsylvania over the weekend. The other was sold two days later in Lower Merion Township at an ACME Markets.
Across the state, more than 473,000 other Powerball tickets won prizes during the August 30 and September 1 drawings, including nearly 100,000 tickets purchased with the Power Play® option and more than 46,000 tickets purchased with Double Play®.
Pennsylvania Lottery officials remind winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and contact the Lottery at 1-800-692-7481 for claiming instructions. Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes.
The current Powerball jackpot, sitting at $1.3 billion with a $589 million cash value, ranks as the fifth-largest in game history and the ninth-largest in U.S. lottery history.
