Commanders fan scores $50K on Ravens scratch-off while on break in Laurel
LAUREL, MD — A Washington Commanders fan just turned a Ravens-themed scratch-off ticket into a $50,000 payday, winning big despite his NFL loyalties during a work break in Prince George’s County.
The Laurel resident, who remains loyal to the Commanders, claimed his prize Tuesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore after scratching off a $50,000 win on the $10 Ravens X10 game.
The single father purchased two Ravens X10 tickets and one $20 game while on break at the Shoppers grocery store at 7051 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Landover. After finishing his shift, he scratched the tickets at home. It wasn’t until he scanned the second Ravens ticket that he realized he had hit one of the game’s $50,000 prizes.
After double-checking the win and confirming it with his daughter, he secured the ticket and made plans to claim his prize. He said the money will help settle financial obligations and will also be shared with family.
The Ravens X10 ticket launched in August and began with four top prizes of $200,000. Two top prizes remain, and now only two of the $50,000 prizes are still unclaimed. The game also includes hundreds of thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.
Despite the win, the lucky player said he has no plans to change teams, but joked that he’ll definitely keep playing the Ravens scratch-offs.
Non-winning Ravens X10 and Ravens X2 tickets can also be entered into the Lottery’s second-chance promotion for prizes such as season tickets, cash, and on-field game day experiences.
