TRENTON, NJ – Lieutenant Colonel David Sierotowicz has officially assumed command of the New Jersey State Police, stepping into the role of Acting Superintendent and State Director of Emergency Management as of January 1.
Sierotowicz, a 24-year veteran of the agency, now leads a force of 4,768 enlisted and civilian members. Over his career, he has held senior command positions across both the Operations and Homeland Security branches, overseeing statewide response efforts during major emergencies and high-profile national events.
He has directed security operations for presidential visits and large-scale public demonstrations and was appointed Incident Commander for all New York and New Jersey matches of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sierotowicz holds a doctorate from Seton Hall University, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and teaches as a professor at several universities.
