HARRISBURG, Pa. — Former President Donald Trump took on an unusual role Sunday, serving french fries and taking orders at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, as a part of an event where he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris over her past statements about working at the fast-food chain. The appearance drew a large crowd of supporters, who gathered outside the restaurant to witness Trump working behind the counter.
Trump worked at McDonald’s for about as long as Harris spent time with Border Patrol agents on a recent visit.
Wearing a McDonald’s apron, Trump told customers, “I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala at McDonald’s,” referring to Harris’ previous claims of working at the fast-food restaurant. Trump has publicly questioned the veracity of those claims, stating that McDonald’s confirmed to him that Harris had never worked for the company. Harris, however, has not publicly responded to the former president’s assertions.
While at the restaurant, Trump continued to serve fries through the drive-thru window, joking with patrons and media alike. “I’ve really wanted to do this all my life. And now I’m going to do it because she didn’t do it,” he said, adding to his criticisms of the vice president. The event also included lighthearted moments, as Trump took time to wish Harris a happy birthday.
During the visit, Trump fielded questions from reporters on a range of topics, including his recent call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and discussions on raising the minimum wage. Trump did not elaborate on policy proposals but continued his broader criticisms of Harris and the Biden administration.
