WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Downed live power lines have made portions of state highways 33 and 34 impassable in Wall Township, closing westbound travel from the Collingwood Circle Sunday afternoon.
JCP&L crews are at the scene making repairs, but police said there is no estimate yet for when the highways will reopen.
Wall Township officers are also working along the affected stretch to manage traffic and help residents who live near the closure.
Residents Can Leave, but Getting Home Will Be Difficult
People who live along the closed highway corridor are being allowed to leave their homes, according to Wall Township Police. Getting back home could be more complicated while utility crews are working.
Police said returning residents should expect to park outside the affected area and walk to their homes. Anyone traveling through the area should stay well away from the downed wires, utility equipment and repair crews.
Drivers who normally use Routes 33 or 34 through the Collingwood Circle should find another route and expect delays until the wires are cleared and the roadway is reopened.
Police have not said what brought the power lines down.
