Police say a traffic violation led officers to the weapon Thursday night
CROFTON, MD – A traffic stop along Route 3 North took a turn Thursday night when Anne Arundel County Police said officers discovered a loaded handgun inside the vehicle’s center console and arrested the 31-year-old driver.
Western District officers initiated the stop at approximately 8:25 p.m. in the area of Route 3 North and Carver Road.
Police said officers had stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation. The department did not specify the alleged violation.
During the stop, officers located a loaded handgun inside the center console compartment of the vehicle, according to police.
The driver was identified as Matthew Ryan Budowski, 31, of Edgewater.
Budowski was arrested and charged. Police did not list the specific charges in the information released.
