Stranger’s lucky scratcher turns gas stop into $50K jackpot shocker
Mingo Junction, OH — A routine gas stop on the way home for Easter turned into a $50,000 surprise after a stranger’s small gesture helped unlock a winning ticket.
The man stopped at Speedway #7611 on Allen Road in Octa and decided to buy an Ultimate $5,000,000 scratch-off after noticing another customer playing.
Without coins to scratch the ticket, he was offered a “lucky” scratcher by the woman next to him. As he revealed the numbers, he spotted matching pairs and realized he had a winning ticket.
When the woman scanned it using the Ohio Lottery app, both saw the result — a $50,000 prize.
The man handed the woman $100 as a thank-you before leaving, without getting her name.
He later called his wife, who did not believe the news until he sent a photo of the ticket.
The winner said he plans to pay bills, help his daughter with a car down payment, and take a trip to Myrtle Beach.
The Ohio Lottery said proceeds continue to support education programs statewide.
