Murrysville, PA – A Westmoreland County man is facing felony charges after police say he twice entered a neighboring home on Hills Church Road, including once when a woman inside was sexually assaulted.

Murrysville Police responded to the residence on Monday after a woman reported that a man came into her home while she was in the bathroom. According to investigators, the man tapped her on the shoulder, handed her a condom, and propositioned her for sex. When she refused, he allegedly touched her inappropriately before leaving through a back door.

The homeowner told officers he suspected the intruder was a neighbor who often cut their grass, later identified as 47-year-old Gregory Schneider of Export. The victim’s description of the suspect matched Schneider, police said.

Authorities reported that the victim also told them about an earlier incident on August 29, when she noticed her clothes had been disturbed and a large stain was left on her mattress.

While officers were at the home, they encountered Schneider returning to his residence. Police said Schneider admitted to entering the victim’s home without permission on multiple occasions, including while her husband was away, and acknowledged going through her clothing.

Schneider has been charged with two counts of burglary and one count of indecent assault. Court records show he was denied bail.

All charges remain accusations, and Schneider is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
