Man found near hospital charged with public intoxication

Stafford County, VA — A man showing visible signs of impairment outside a healthcare facility was taken into custody Tuesday after deputies responded to reports of an intoxicated individual in the area.

The incident occurred around 11:53 a.m. on Wonder Road near Mary Washington Healthcare Center. Upon arrival, a deputy located the individual, who was observed stumbling and unable to maintain balance.

Authorities said the man exhibited slurred speech, glassy eyes, and an odor of alcohol. He admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. A search later revealed a partially consumed alcoholic beverage and marijuana in his possession.

The individual was identified as 35-year-old Jamal Johnson. He was charged with public intoxication and transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held until sober.

The incident is part of recent reported activity in the area, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
