Man arrested for assaulting officer and drug possession in manassas

MANASSAS, VA — A man has been arrested on multiple charges following an incident involving assault on a law enforcement officer and drug possession.

On July 4 at 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 7400 block of Moss Lane. Upon arrival, officers observed a man, later identified as Chevron Romarierz Harris, 36, parking the vehicle. Officers noticed suspected illegal narcotics within the vehicle.

When officers attempted to detain Harris, he actively resisted and assaulted one of the officers. Harris was eventually detained. During the investigation, Harris provided false identifying information and was found in possession of additional suspected illegal narcotics. No injuries were reported.

Chevron Romarierz Harris, of 9417 Westmoreland Avenue in Manassas, was arrested and charged with the following:

1 count of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer
2 counts of possession of Schedule I/II drugs
1 count of providing false identifying information to law enforcement
2 counts of obstruction of justice
1 count of driving on a revoked license

The investigation is ongoing.
