Man arrested in two Calvert County armed robberies after Bowie takedown

DUNKIRK, MD — A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two armed robberies in Calvert County, following a coordinated law enforcement takedown in Bowie, authorities announced Wednesday.

Jonathan Alexander Gray of Prince Frederick was identified as the suspect in a July 25 robbery at the Verizon Wireless store in Dunkirk, where he allegedly stole an Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max and left a threatening note on a napkin claiming he had a firearm. Gray fled the store on foot.

Two days later, on July 27, Gray allegedly robbed the Dash-In convenience store in Owings. In that incident, he reportedly threatened a clerk with a gun and fled with cash in a small white SUV.

Detectives from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau linked the two incidents and placed Gray under surveillance. On July 30, they executed a planned takedown in the Walmart parking lot in Bowie, where Gray was arrested without incident.

Gray is currently being held at the Calvert County Detention Center and faces multiple charges related to both robberies.
