Landover, MD – A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Landover nearly six years ago is in custody after being arrested Tuesday evening in Washington, D.C., authorities announced.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, 34-year-old Dayvon Gordon was taken into custody by the department’s Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Suspect sought since 2020 homicide
Gordon is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related offenses in the death of 22-year-old Andre Cox Jr.
Police said officers responded to the 3200 block of 75th Avenue in Landover on Oct. 27, 2020, after receiving reports of a shooting. Cox was found outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and died a short time later.
Arrest made after years of searching
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Gordon shortly after the shooting, but repeated efforts to locate him were unsuccessful over the following years, police said.
Gordon remains in custody in Washington pending extradition to Prince George’s County. Authorities said the motive for the killing remains under investigation.

The arrest closes a years-long search for a homicide suspect and allows the criminal case to move forward in court. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Gordon is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
