Man charged after body found near Gwynns Falls trail in Baltimore
Baltimore, MD – A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after a body discovered in a wooded area earlier this week was linked to a fatal stabbing earlier this month.
Just after 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, investigators were called to the 2800 block of West Baltimore Street, near the Gwynns Falls trail, after a report of a body found in the water. Responders located a deceased adult male showing clear signs of trauma.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Dashond Johnson. Baltimore Police determined that Johnson had been killed on January 2, more than two weeks before his body was discovered.
Following a homicide investigation, detectives arrested Eric Jones, 30, in connection with the killing. He was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with both first- and second-degree murder.
Officials have not released a motive or details about how Johnson and Jones may have known each other.
