Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing Attack in Beltsville

August 7, 2024

BELTSVILLE, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged 39-year-old Francisco Ayala Alvarenga of College Park in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on Monday night.

The incident took place on August 5, 2024, around 11:00 PM in the 10000 block of Baltimore Avenue. Responding officers discovered an unresponsive man with multiple stab wounds outside; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, patrol officers from Division VI Beltsville quickly located and apprehended Alvarenga near the scene without any issues. The initial investigation suggests that the stabbing arose from an argument between the victim and Alvarenga, who were known to each other.

Alvarenga faces charges of first and second degree murder among other related charges and is currently held in no-bond status at the Department of Corrections. As efforts continue to identify the victim to notify his family, authorities urge anyone with information about the case to contact the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
