Man chugs 12 beers then kills girl 11 in DUI crash minutes after leaving bar

Harrison Township, PA – A Pennsylvania man is facing criminal charges after allegedly slamming into an 11-year-old girl with his SUV just minutes after downing his last beer at a local bar.

Jeffrey Glowatski, 65, is accused of killing Roxanne Bonnoni in a DUI crash outside her Harrison Township home in August.

The girl, who was hearing impaired, was playing in front of her house when she was struck and fatally injured.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on Kuntz Street, shortly after Glowatski left the Boots Bar in Brackenridge, according to a criminal complaint cited by TribLive.com. Investigators say Glowatski began drinking at approximately 2:45 p.m. and continued for nearly five hours across two bars, consuming a total of 12 beers — including five 12-ounce servings at Boots Bar right before getting behind the wheel.

Within minutes of leaving the bar, police allege he climbed into his Jeep Patriot and drove into the neighborhood where he hit Roxanne as she crossed the street. A witness saw the crash happen and approached Glowatski’s vehicle at the scene.

Roxanne was outside playing when she was hit, and her death sent shockwaves through the community. Flowers and stuffed animals were later left at the crash site in her memory.

Police said Glowatski appeared intoxicated at the time of the crash, and the investigation revealed his extensive alcohol consumption leading up to the incident. He is now facing criminal charges in connection with the girl’s death, including DUI and vehicular homicide.
