Man critically injured in Bronx robbery as suspects steal wallet, iPhone and firearm

BRONX, N.Y. — Police are searching for two suspects involved in a violent early-morning robbery in the Bronx that left a 27-year-old man hospitalized in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 4:09 a.m. Saturday near 1473 St. Peters Avenue, according to the NYPD. Authorities said two individuals forced the victim to the ground, striking him in the face and causing multiple fractures.

One of the assailants then held a knife to the victim’s throat while the pair robbed him of his wallet and iPhone. One of the individuals also removed the victim’s registered firearm before both suspects fled the scene on foot.

EMS responded and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday.

“The depicted individual removed the victim’s registered firearm and fled the location with the second unidentified individual, on foot, to parts unknown,” police said.

Police identify one suspect, seek second

Authorities have identified one of the suspects as 23-year-old Taveon Hargrove. The second individual involved in the robbery remains unidentified.

Hargrove’s photo and information have been circulated to local precincts, and detectives are working to determine the identity of the second suspect.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning, and the motive behind the assault remains under investigation.

Police urge anyone with information about Hargrove or the unidentified suspect to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline.
