Man critically injured in Chesapeake shooting; suspect detained

A Chesapeake man is hospitalized with critical injuries as police continue to investigate a shooting in a residential neighborhood.

CHESAPEAKE, VA — Chesapeake Police are investigating a shooting that left one man with life-threatening injuries Sunday afternoon in a residential neighborhood off Angler Lane.

Officers were dispatched around 2:13 p.m. Sunday to the 2300 block of Angler Lane following reports of a male being shot. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from injuries described as life-threatening.

The victim was immediately transported to a hospital for emergency medical treatment. His identity and current condition have not been disclosed.

Suspect detained at the scene

Chesapeake Police confirmed that the suspected shooter has been detained. Authorities have not released details on what led to the shooting or whether the individuals involved knew each other.

The department has not reported any ongoing threat to the public.
