Man shot and killed in North Bethesda parking lot in targeted overnight attack

NORTH BETHESDA, MD — A man was shot and killed overnight in a North Bethesda parking lot in what Montgomery County Police are calling a targeted homicide. Investigators are now searching for the suspect and offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Officers from the 2nd District responded to the 11700 block of Rockville Pike just before 1:00 a.m. Friday after reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a commercial area. When they arrived, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the department’s Major Crimes Division – Homicide Section have taken over the investigation. Based on preliminary evidence, police believe the victim was targeted, though no suspect description has been released.

The victim’s identity has not yet been made public, pending next-of-kin notification.
