NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – A construction crew working on a gas line project in the Hudson Valley made a grisly discovery this week when human remains were unearthed at a worksite in Orange County.
The remains were found Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. along Sloop Hill Road by Central Hudson workers digging for a gas line installation.
New York State Police have since confirmed that an active investigation is underway into the find, which some officials say could be connected to a decades-old mob burial site rumored to exist in the area.

According to State Police, troopers from the Montgomery barracks responded after the remains were uncovered by a Central Hudson crew near the wooded area about three miles northeast of Storm King State Park.
