Man fatally shot on West Fayette Street after walking into hospital

BALTIMORE, Md. — A 23-year-old man who walked into a local hospital with gunshot wounds early Friday died shortly after arrival, prompting a homicide investigation in the city’s Southwest District.

At approximately 12:13 a.m., patrol officers responded to the hospital after receiving reports of a shooting victim seeking treatment. Despite emergency efforts by medical personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives later determined the shooting occurred in the 1500 block of West Fayette Street, where investigators located a crime scene. No suspects have been identified, and a motive has not been released.

The identity of the victim has not been made public pending notification of next of kin.

The incident marks the latest in a series of overnight shootings reported across the city in recent weeks.
