Man hospitalized with fractured skull after Brooklyn street assault

BROOKLYN, NY — A 28-year-old man suffered a fractured skull and multiple head lacerations after being attacked with a metal object in East New York on Thursday afternoon, police said.

According to the NYPD, the assault occurred around 4:25 p.m. near Georgia Avenue and Newport Street. The victim was walking in the area when he was approached by two unidentified individuals. A physical altercation followed.

During the confrontation, one of the suspects struck the man multiple times in the head with an unknown metal object, authorities said. The suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

EMS transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police have not released a description of the suspects and no arrests have been made.

The investigation remains ongoing.
