January 20, 2025

SEVERN, Md. — A 24-year-old man was hospitalized early Saturday morning after a shooting in Severn, police said.

Officers responded at approximately 3:30 a.m. on January 18, 2025, to reports of gunfire near Averill Court and Stillmeadows Drive. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was picked up by a passing vehicle, which was later intercepted by authorities at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Reece Road.

Fire department personnel transported the man to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of what police described as a non-life-threatening injury.

At the scene of the shooting, officers discovered a backpack containing suspected evidence of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) distribution. Police did not provide further details on the items found in the bag.

No suspects were located during a search of the area. Western District detectives are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or, for anonymous tips, the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
