Man Killed by Own Car During Violent Carjacking

Prince William County, VA – A man died tragically after being carjacked and subsequently run over by his own SUV in Dumfries, Virginia. The carjacking took place at around 7 p.m. Saturday at the Oasis at Montclair, a gated community, as 37-year-old Jose Vasquez Galvan was retrieving a package from his leasing office.

Police say Galvan was fatally injured when he attempted to cling to his stolen vehicle, a 1999 gold Lexus 300. Galvan succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Monday. He leaves behind a wife and two children. The stolen Lexus, which was later found by police, is reported to have damage to its rear left bumper, tail light assembly, and possibly the rear left rim. It also features two “Baby On Board” stickers.

The search for the suspect is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or via the text tip line at 50411.
