Man shot after attempting to aid female victim during a disturbance

Magnolia, DE-  A Kent County mas was arrested by the Delaware State Police Thursday in response to a shooting that took place earlier in the morning.

According to police, on March 3 at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Jeffrey Drive, in the London Village Community, for a male, with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso. Through investigative measures,

“Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives determined Christopher Evans,19, of Dover, was sitting inside a vehicle arguing with a female acquaintance through the car window when the argument escalated to a physical altercation,” DSP said in a statement. “When the victim, Michael Kressman, 30, of  Magnolia, came to the aid of the female, he was shot by Keyonte Brown, 21, of Dover, who was also in the vehicle. Michael was transported to an area hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.”

Keyonte Brown was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony., and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.  He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to Sussex Correction Institution on a $1,085,000 cash Bond.
