CLAIRTON, P.A. — Allegheny County Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night during a picnic in Clairton, leaving one man dead and another in custody.

County 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call at 9:32 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 300 block of Division Street. First responders arrived to find an adult male deceased at the scene, according to the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

Preliminary information indicates that an argument broke out during a gathering, leading to the shooting. Authorities confirmed that an adult male has been detained in connection with the incident.

Detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

“Preliminary information shows an argument occurred during a picnic and the victim was shot,” police said.

Authorities say there is no threat to the public

Police have stated there is no ongoing threat to the community, and the detained individual remains in custody as the investigation continues.

No additional injuries were reported, and the weapon used has not been publicly described.
