A Thursday afternoon shooting left a man dead in a Silver Spring neighborhood, with no arrests made and no suspect information immediately available
SILVER SPRING, MD – A man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon on January Drive in Silver Spring, where officers and emergency crews attempted to save him before he died at the scene and a homicide investigation began with no suspect in custody.
Montgomery County Police said officers from the department’s 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the 1700 block of January Drive at approximately 2:05 p.m. for a reported shooting.
Responding officers found an adult man suffering from serious injuries.
Officers immediately began rendering aid, according to police.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the victim’s identity. Authorities said his name will be made public after his next of kin has been properly notified.
No one was in custody Thursday afternoon.
Police also said there was no additional suspect information available in the initial stages of the investigation.
