Man Shot in Stomach Near Montgomery College in Rockville

ROCKVILLE, MD—A serious shooting incident occurred on Friday, just before 4:30 PM, leading to a temporary lockdown at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus.

Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services were dispatched to the 400 block of College Parkway where they found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen outside a residence. The victim was quickly transported to a hospital and is currently in critical condition.

The incident prompted a lockdown at Montgomery College as a precaution, though officials later confirmed that there appears to be no link between the shooting and the college.

Normal operations at the college have resumed. Rockville City Police have taken charge of the criminal investigation, which is still active.

Authorities have increased their presence in the College Gardens area and are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
