Man Shot Multiple Times Inside Vehicle, Killed in Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in Trenton, leaving a 25-year-old man dead, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey.

At approximately 9:23 p.m., Trenton police responded to the area of Dayton and Grand streets after a ShotSpotter alert detected multiple gunshots. Officers arrived to find a white Toyota 4Runner stopped in the middle of the 300 block of Dayton Street.

Inside the vehicle, police discovered Wilmer Eliu Vidal Romero, of Trenton, in the driver’s seat with a severe gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid until emergency responders arrived.

Romero was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

No arrests have been made, and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, along with the Trenton Police Department, continues to investigate.
