Man Slashed Across Face Outside Lower East Side Building, NYPD Searches for Suspect

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — Detectives are searching for a suspect accused of slashing a 25-year-old man in the face during an early morning attack outside a Lower East Side building earlier this year, according to the NYPD.

The assault happened around 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, in front of 174 Orchard Street within the confines of the 7th Precinct, police said.

Investigators say an unidentified individual approached the victim before slashing him across the face with a cutting instrument.

The suspect fled following the attack, and no arrests had been announced as of Saturday.\

NYPD Releases Images in Ongoing Assault Investigation

NYPD Crimestoppers released surveillance images tied to the investigation as detectives continued efforts to identify the suspect responsible for the violent assault.

Police have not disclosed what led to the confrontation or whether the victim and attacker knew each other before the incident.

Authorities also have not released the victim’s medical condition following the facial injuries.

The attack occurred in a heavily traveled Lower East Side corridor known for late-night foot traffic, restaurants and nightlife activity.
