GREENWICH VILLAGE, NEW YORK — A 37-year-old man was stabbed early Tuesday morning during an attempted robbery outside a commercial location on MacDougal Street, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. when the victim was confronted by an unknown individual who demanded his wallet. The assailant produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the back before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to NYC Health+ Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Authorities confirmed that no property was taken during the attempted robbery.

The suspect remains unidentified, and no arrests have been made as of Tuesday evening. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking any information that may lead to the apprehension of the individual responsible.
