RIVERDALE, GA – On March 19, 2021, just past midnight, a Clayton County Police Officer stopped to help a disabled vehicle in the middle of the road on Highway 85, in Riverdale.
The officer made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The officer quickly determined that it was a domestic dispute.
As the officer began to return to his vehicle, he heard a loud boom sound, consistent with someone having an accident. The officer immediately realized a vehicle had hit his patrol car.
The officer yelled for the vehicle to stop, but the car continued on. The officer was able to provide a license plate number over the radio to surrounding PD units for assistance in locating the hit-and-run suspect. The driver was located a short while later on Church Street. He was charged with Hit and Run, DUI Less Safe, Improper Lane Change, Stop Sign Violation, and Attempting to Flee/Elude Police.
