JESSUP, Md. — A 35-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning in Jessup after Anne Arundel County police discovered a stolen loaded handgun, suspected methamphetamine, and body armor during a patrol linked to a drug investigation.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on April 9, detectives from the Western District were patrolling the 2000 block of Horseshoe Circle in response to complaints about illegal drug activity. Officers approached a brown Jeep Grand Cherokee and observed a man inside with a handgun beside his leg.
Further checks revealed that the man, identified as Daniel Trent Altizer of Jessup, had an active arrest warrant for assault. He was taken into custody without incident.
Stolen weapon, drugs, and gear seized
A search of the vehicle and the suspect revealed a loaded stolen 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, and body armor.
Anne Arundel County Police confirmed that Altizer was arrested on multiple charges related to weapons violations, drug possession, and his outstanding warrant.

Police said the arrest stemmed from targeted patrols in an area with repeated reports of drug-related activity. Officers seized all contraband as evidence.
