Manhunt for fugitive wanted for Luzerne Street shooting that left one dead, one critical

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is actively searching for Deiby Rivera Gonzalez, 56, who is wanted in connection with a double shooting that occurred Wednesday morning, April 30, in the city’s 24th District, leaving a woman dead and a man critically wounded.

At approximately 9:23 a.m., officers responded to reports of a person with a gun on the 1500 block of East Luzerne Street. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Victim #1, a 33-year-old woman later identified as Jaylisa Quinones-Pinet of the 4000 block of Neilson Street, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her torso. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 9:27 a.m.

Victim #2, a 38-year-old male, was also shot multiple times and remains in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.


Police issue alert for suspect and vehicle in homicide investigation

Deiby Rivera Gonzalez is described as a 56-year-old male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a stocky build. He was last seen driving a 2017 maroon Toyota Highlander. Police have not disclosed the nature of Gonzalez’s relationship to either victim or a possible motive for the shooting.

At the scene, investigators recovered six .223 caliber fired cartridge casings and one .40 caliber casing. The Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
