Maryland Lottery sprints past $27 million as Racetrax dominates winnings

Long-shot Racetrax horses deliver five-figure wins across Maryland in explosive lottery week

BALTIMORE, MD – Big payouts rolled in across Maryland this past week as long-odds horses in the popular Racetrax game delivered major wins for players from Baltimore to Waldorf, contributing to a massive $27.1 million in total lottery prizes awarded statewide from Oct. 20 to 26.

On Oct. 24 and Oct. 26, Racetrax bettors hit it big when horses with the longest odds – numbered 12, 11, and 10 – crossed the finish line in top spots. That rare outcome sparked seven large Racetrax wins, including a $30,226 prize in Randallstown and multiple five-figure hits in Baltimore, Fort Washington, Laurel, Suitland, Takoma Park, and Waldorf.

Among the Racetrax winners:

  • $30,226 at Marriottsville Crown in Randallstown
  • $17,884 each at Club House Bar & Grill in Baltimore and Sunoco in Takoma Park
  • $15,727 at Royal Food Mart in Fort Washington and Meyer’s Liquors in Suitland
  • $13,005 at West Laurel Exxon and Holiday Liquors in Waldorf

Five of the seven Racetrax wins came from the Oct. 24 race where horses 12, 11, 10, and 1 led the field. The remaining wins came on Oct. 26 with a 9-10-12-1 finish.

In other games, three separate $50,000 prizes were claimed on scratch-offs and Pick 5 tickets in Hyattsville, Westminster, and Silver Spring. Dozens more prizes of $10,000 or more were won throughout the week, including high-dollar hits on scratch-offs like Gold Bar Bingo, Bingo X10, Ravens X10, and Silver Bells Bucks.

Lottery winners claimed prizes at a wide range of retailers, from gas stations and liquor stores to grocery stores and convenience marts. Notably, some of the week’s largest wins remain unclaimed, including several Racetrax and Pick 5 prizes.

The Maryland Lottery reminds players to sign the backs of winning tickets, check expiration deadlines, and claim prizes appropriately based on amount and game type.
