LAUREL, Md. — A propane explosion Saturday morning forced the cancellation of the City of Laurel’s Main Street Festival parade, officials confirmed.

The explosion occurred during vendor setup at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets. According to a statement from the City of Laurel posted on social media, the situation has since been contained.

“The City of Laurel regrets to announce the cancellation of the Mainstreet Festival Parade scheduled for today due to a propane explosion at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets,” the city posted on X.
