Maryland State Police Rescue Missing Elderly Person in Kent County

July 22, 2024

KENT COUNTY, MD — A coordinated rescue operation led by Maryland State Police’s Trooper 1 helicopter successfully located and aided a missing elderly individual in Kent County. The operation took place yesterday morning following a request from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.

The elderly subject had been reported missing since the previous night. Trooper 1, working closely with ground teams including MSP K9 units and a search manager, found the individual lying in a field. Given the extreme heat and the subject’s distance from the ground personnel, the helicopter crew made the decision to land nearby to provide immediate assistance.

The Trooper 1 medics rendered first aid to the elderly person until an ambulance arrived. The individual was then transported to the University of Maryland Medical Center at Chestertown for further medical care. This successful rescue highlights the effective collaboration among various jurisdictions and emergency responders in Maryland.
