Maryland woman hits $50k lottery jackpot using late father’s numbers

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Southern Maryland woman said she owes her latest $50,000 Maryland Lottery win to her late father after playing his death date in the July 25 Pick 5 evening drawing.

The Calvert County resident, a retired federal employee, claimed her prize Monday at Maryland Lottery headquarters. She initially believed she had won a smaller prize on a boxed bet but later realized she had a perfect match on a straight bet ticket for the top prize.

The frequent player, who typically buys tickets on Sundays, said she plans to use her winnings to pay off bills and purchase a new truck for her husband.

This is not her first big win. In 2023, she scored $62,000 on Racetrax and also took home a notable prize in 2015 on the same game.

The winning ticket was sold at the Dash-In convenience store at 875 North Solomon’s Island Road in Prince Frederick. The store receives a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.
